Hi Guys
Are your sure it is a Flak gun? Looking at the shield, it would not allow a very high elevation. The breech is hand operated not semi automatic, a must for any AA gun to put enough shells in the sky. I cannot see a fuze setter. And I cannot see any data transmission equipment.
I look forward for more information on this weapon.

Hello Clive
I have compare the picture from Ebay with the one in the book " Eisenbahnartillerie " from Guy Francois
and they are the same gun , maybe this original W.W. 1 naval gun was a dual gun and was redesigned as
a railway gun with a new gunshield .
Regards Jos

Hi Jos
Thanks for the reply. I have had a look on the Naval weapons site http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNGER_41-45_skc06.htm and agree that the guns on Nymphe look similar to the one on the railway wagon. I would be very intrested in seeing the photo in " Eisenbahnartillerie " by Guy Francois.
It does not look the same as the guns in this thread which have been identified as the same weapon http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=151886
Thanks again I feel I have learnt something today.
While on the subject of Flak on railway wagons does any one have any other photos of the 8.8cm FlaK L45 on railway wagon as on Nuyt's Overvalwagen Forum http://www.network54.com/Forum/330333/t ... ry+weapons (you will need to scroll down quite some way)

Hello Clive
Here the photo from the book "Eisenbahnartillerie" from Guy Francois .
I agree with you that the breech of this gun looks different then the
10.5 cm Ubts.u.Tbts. Flak L/45 but there were more 10,5 cm L/45 guns .
Regards Jos

Re: 10,5 cm Flak L/45 auf Eisenbahnwagen
Hi All
I found this photo today in "Waffen Arsenal Sonderband S55, Deutsche Kuestenbefestigungen in Belgien 1914-1945"
The book says it is a 10.5cm Flak L/35 but I think it is a misprint and is a L/45. It is the same type of gun as mounted on the railway wagon.

I do not think so, the buffer and recuperator (and their attachments) do not look the same. There is heavy noticeable riveting on the Krupp gun not seen on the gun in the photo I posted. And on second viewing of the photo from General Guy Francois book, it is similar but not quite the same. The buffer of the rail mounted weapon has a square shape to it and the one in the photo I posted has a round shape. Have we yet another 10.5 cm FlaK gun from the end of WW1?
Yours
Clive

I have found the same photo as I posted in another book Waffen Arsenal Band 147, 8,8cm FlaK im Einsatz where it is called an Rhienmetall 8.8cm Flak L/45. I am now even more confused.

Re: 10,5 cm Flak L/45 auf Eisenbahnwagen
Hi all,
According to my data, the germas developed during WWI these AA guns:
8cm Krupp
8.8cm Krupp
8.8cm Rheinmetall
10.5cm Krupp
10.5cm Rheinmetall
10.5cm Eisenbahnflak from Rheinmetall
I have very little information about these guns and somewhat confusing. I will try to put some pictures of these guns.
