As an ex REME gun fitter my guess is freeing off something the gunners have painted. We use to call paint "gunners glue" because after they had painted a gun nothing would undo.
I wish my hammer was that big

Hi all,
I found this image on EBay. It is an 38cm Skoda M16 howitzer (of the first series) in rail transport position and I think the image is taken in a museum, perhaps in Romania.

Hello all.
Is it a 42 cm Haubitze (t)? IMHO, the barrel looks more like 38 cm, but no sources confirm they were used somewhere in snow-covered terrain. Captured by the Red Army, probably near Leningrad.
