allready in 1939 there was a order given by the OKH about the replacement of concrete by rock. In this paper dated 31.05.1939 there are detailed explanations how much to reduce the outer walls of bunkers in strenght A and B. Even if this paper was ment to be used by the Festungspioniere building the Westwall it was also the basement for other regulations given later on during the war. The dimensions are in short terms:

A buildings outer walls may be reduced to 2 m and B buildings outer walls may be reduced to 1 m. This reductions may not start before a strength of rock of 1,5 m deepness. The foundation may be reduced to 30 cm.
Hi,

As the connecting tunnel linking the 633/634 at Stp. Corbiere, Jersey, is really just a back filled trench which has a covering of a depth of about 3 metres of Granite rubble on it would it still have the strengh of a B building or does the rock need to be solid?

What about the SK gun emplacements at Stp. Paulushoehe Festung St. Malo? Looking at the map in my book on the subject they seem to be holes filled up with a 611-style nose so maybe no real granite-bunker but still quite interesting. Intend to go there in about three weeks so anyone got some pictures to get me started? Pictures from the 634 with added PAK-garage would also be welcome.

Why thank you. Long time lurker on this forum and genuine bunkerfreak, so thought it appropriate to sign up here too.
Not to dilute this topic any more (PM may be preferrable), but please tell me all you can about this Stp. I will be leading a small group and like to be prepared for the tour. We will not be packing any extravagant kit such as ladders and diving gear; just old clothes and mountaineer shoes (additional info regarding La fort de la Cite and Fort de la Varde is also greatly appreciated).

@ festung st malo: mighty interesting, thank you for the links. So I figure one must enter via the eastern accessway to gain entrance to the tunnel system? Or is this one also blocked nowadays? If so, what better way is there into the tunnels and if not, is the eastern accessway easily found?
Sorry for the many questions; i'm planning to spend one day in St Malo (other four will be spent on the landing beaches and surroundings; we will be staying in Isigny sur Mer) and in that time I want to visit Fort de la Cite, Fort de la Varde and Feste Paulus and then we also have to drive there and get back so we won't have an awful lot of time to waste.

Hello Mark
To visit cité d'alet, consult the schedules of visits of the museum (a part only is accessible) to visit the totality of the complex it is necessary to make a letter written to send to Mister Peyle, the person in charge of the museum and this one, after dialogue with the city hall will look surement its agreement but it is better to prepare it at least a I in advance. The Fort of Varde belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral as well as the festepaulus, to obtain authorizations to contact the member"GREMLIN" on the forum atlantikwallsuperforum he can certainely obtain you keys! Cordially alban
Best Regards

@ festung st malo: very good to know, I would get on it right away, but the Atlantikwallsuperforum does not allow me to send PM since I've only just registered. Might I ask you to contact forummember GREMLIN to send me his email adres so that we can communicate this? Also note that I have not mastered the French language so communication might be a problem. If you can do this I will send you a PM with my email-adres.
Also, is this the Mister Peyle you are referring to:
Peyle Eric.Tél. : 02.99.82.80.51 .22 RUE DU DOUANIER ROUSSEAU 35400 Saint-malo? Does the good man also have an email adres you know of? And, importantly, does he speak English? :)
Many thanks.

Hi everybody

Here are two other gun bunkers (± R612 + tunnel) in granite (armed with French 75 mm guns)
(sealed in 1982 and used as shelters for bats since then; and barely visible from outside nowadays.

Location: Plestin-les Grèves / Brittany / France = AOK 7 / KVA A2 / Mo 39 & Mo 40
