Hello,
The gun is not described in "Canons de la Victoire" because the books are "small" in size and many prototyps and guns not entered in service at 11 november 1918 are not described (16 cm sur affût roulant, 305 mm modèle 1893-96 M on sliding mount ALVF, 340 mm L/60 Bourgoin on "affût à berceau", etc...).
The 16 cm on "affût roulant" is not a 16 cm modèle 1893-96 but a modèle 1893 only.
12 were made in 1918.A first battery received four guns but the testing were not satisfactory and mounting are to return in Schneider works. The guns were not modified at 11 november and these mounting were condamned in 1919 but some mounts were keep for trials, especially at Saint-Pierre-Quiberon and other grounds.
In 1918, they were also worn-out 16 cm guns tubed in 155 mm.In 1919, the transformed guns were stocked as spare guns. The name of these guns was "155 mm modèle 1893", the photograph of the gun with muzzle brake is a gun of this "155 mm modèle 1893", it was used for testing the155 mm modèle 1932.It is a common use in "Artillerie Navale" that the old guns, transformed or tubed, are used to test shells and equipments of a new gun.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.

I cannot figure the nationality of the soldiers on this picture. Any idea?
