Czech bunkerperiscope in german use

Post by Saska » 27 Mar 2011 10:50

Hello All

I am looking for information about the use of the Czech bunkerperiscope in german bunkers of the Westwall and/or Atlanticwall.

The Czech bunkerperiscope was maybe used in german bunkers as "Panzerrundblick" optic in a steel tupe which went through the whole concret roof of the bunker or it was later attached outside the Bunker at the backside near the entrence.
Especially about that, I once have seen a picture, but can not find it anymore

Who knows more about the german use of the Czech bunkerperiscope and could help me ?

Thanks in advance

Saska

Hei Jos

Yes that is it. Great. Thanks a lot :)

Well, it seems there was also a use of this periscope in the Westwall.

I remember that in Ebay.de there was a picture of such a periscope fixed at the outside wall of a german bunker. And if I remember it corectly , someone was putting this picture also here in the forum.
Problem is I can not find it anymore.

Does anyone remember about it or where it could be?

Greetings Saska

Hi Jos. It is not a Czechoslovak periscope. The only kinds of long periscopes were:
1) cheap and simple periscope for the small pill-boxes (as seen at photos by TUS at mentioned forum), lenght 108 - 164 cm, it has been used at German bunkers.
2) ditch periscope for the heavy bunkers, lenght 132 - 182 cm (see the photo).

All the other periscopes had complicated optics and mechanisms and were short - for the armoured cupolas.
