Pak K36(t) embrasure...
Hiya gang; here's the embrasure for the 4.7cm at Nicolle Tower; this used to sit in the woods a lot more!! I don't know the ins and outs of this but perhaps before it actually takes off down the hillside at a precipitous rate of knots, maybe it is of some value to someone in here??
The Jersey branch of CIOS aren't too bothered, and the chairman suggested putting it on here.....
So. Any takers for a behemoth piece of steel?? I have no idea whether salvaging it would be feasible, or in fact if the current owner - also unknown! - would be willing to sell/give it.

Wow, again an armoured part. It's one hell of a week
Maybe someone in Boulogne-sur-Mer wants to put this one back into a 631.

@ Corsair: Amazing, but I think it would be best if you removed this thread due to the hawk-eyed parts-robbers that scout the internet for just these things.
We have already lost one of these very special embrasures (this one) to these kind of people (and lots more items), so I think it would be best to only contact the right people about this. Maybe even better to just keep it quiet to save it for the next generation of bunker-enthusiasts.

Re: Pak K36(t) embrasure...
Mark; at some stage in the not too distant future, that embrasure is going to fall down the cliff due to subsidence so it is going to be removed one way or the other, so the next generation are going to miss it anyway. It's hard enough to walk into, and getting it out would be a bloody nightmare because of the weight so I'll leave it just for a while.
Besides, it's right above some houses and fenced off - it'd be very hard to remove it surreptitiously!!

You've got a point there. Think I haven't yet fully recovered from this story.corsair5517 wrote:Mark; at some stage in the not too distant future, that embrasure is going to fall down the cliff due to subsidence so it is going to be removed one way or the other, so the next generation are going to miss it anyway. That was a retrieval, though I think...rather than a demolition??

This isn't a "lost" one fellas; everyone knows where it is but no-one realised until quite recently just how much of the cliff had eroded...

Re: Pak K36(t) embrasure...
So was this a Festungspak in open position with the embrasure mounted on a custom made rig?
Re: Pak K36(t) embrasure...
Hello Corsair5517
Would be nice to know why this embrasure was placed there , the steelwork that hold this embrasure
together is different then the one in Lorient , this one was placed in a 612 on a pivot .
I hope it's not sold as scrap , maybe there is a museum that will adopt it .
Regards Jos

Re: Pak K36(t) embrasure...
This position overlooks an awful lot of open ground leading ultimately to Greve D'Azette and St Clements bay, although it would have been originally an awful long way back in the woods, I'd've thought, at the time. There is apparently a picture in "Jersey besieged, 1944" on pages 15 and 16: a book which I do not possess.
I'd be unhappy if it were scrapped as well, but if no-one has a use for it, then that will probably be its ultimate fate.

They destroyed the front of the bunker to get the gun with embrasure out. Rather nicely preserved bunker it was too; they even found some ammo-cases inside. Story here.corsair5517 wrote:That was a retrieval, though I think...rather than a demolition??
Re: Pak K36(t) embrasure...
Hi Mark and corsair,
To me this was a shock.
They demolished a nce bunker just to get the gun.
I heard everything had to happen fast but they could have removed the gun only.
Have been sleeping bad about the whole happening at Boulogne.
The system of the Festungspak is very photogenic and nice but to demolish a nice 631 for it....
We do not in Holland have a saying, "met de Franse slag", it means doing something without
thinking about it or doing it without paying attention to anything!
Jack.

Re: Pak K36(t) embrasure...
Now, these were apparently peculiar to Jersey, these field modded PakK36(t)s; mounted on a locally sourced turntable and with a mock summer house built around them...

Yet another shot of this "summer house"...
