Hello

I am looking for the borders of the K.V.A.'s in Holland , this is what I found so far
the K.V.A. A1 , A2 and B . Are there more or was the B also split in B1 and B2 ????

Map = W.W.2 maps.com

hi jos, do you know the date of this map?
i suppose around winter 42, when the neue westwall changed in to atlantikwall ?
as you know the neue westwall also used KVA's with letter codes.

greetings, tim

Hello Tim

The date of the first map is 01-11-1942 , but this one , French duplicate of a original
German map from 25-06-1944 , you can see the K.V.A. are still in service .

Maybe the designation was given/used by the Fest.Pi.Stab, not by the LXXXVIII A.K.?

In the KTB & the winterausbauprogramm the normal names are used (Schagen, Amsterdam...)

A & B are easier to present and show to higher functionals as more local used names. It also fits in more with the lower regions designations.

Do you know if the French map is from the resistance or drawn up after the war? Maybe irrelevant but the Kdr. was stationed in Paris, so a stolen copy from the Landesbef.West makes sense.

However it makes me wonder what about Denmark, deutsche Bucht & the östliche Ostsee? Would this also be of application to the Abschnitte over there, or is it a Inspecteur des Landesbef. West thing?

Hello Nectar

Could be possible , strange is to me that it looks that the KVA have the same lenght as the division borders .
As you can see in 1942 only two divisions in Holland and in 1944 you three divisions in Holland at the coast ??
Are you sure that the borders of KVA Skagen , Amsterdam and Dordrecht ( H.Q. of the divisions ) are the same ??

Hi Jos,
The KVA's were the borders of the Divisions.
They (the borders of the KVA's) moved when the division part of the coast decreased or increased.
For instance, the 719 northern border was first defended by the 16 Lw.Feld Div. later it became KVA Bef. d. W.SS that took over a part of the KVA 16 Lw.Feld Div (KVA Amsterdam).
Not much maps with the KVA Unterabschnitte are known.
After the major divisions headed South (16 Lw.Feld Div., I.D. 347 and 719 I.D.) to stop the allied advance not much is known.
Greetings Jack.

A map from 1942 with the KVA , you see Walcheren was still under the control of Holland . ( NARA )
