Hi Jos,

Maybe some .50 cal Browning, The receiver has similarities with the normal ground gun and the barrel jacket with M1921 aircraft MG.

Edit: The M1921 at http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/ttt3 ... e-gun.html is a good match xcept for a lack of spade grips.

I think it s a Browning too (Or Vickers or FN licence). Probably not one captured from the Dutch navy or airforce (7,9mm), these looked different and the mount is not the Dutch Navy Solothurn mount of the .50 aa guns. Could be captured in Scandinavia, Belgium or some airforce...

Thanks for your quick repty's , I think the Browning/Colt airforce .50 M1921 is a very good option .
still strange a airforce gun in a typical naval mount ??

Italian submarines photos are a good source for this gun, most had it in single and twin mounts like in the thread i linked.

It seems they needed a bigger volume of fire.
Btw from accounts of missions i have read it wasn't uncommon for italian submarines to down or damage seriously a Sunderland or a Blenheim.
