Post by jopaerya » 22 Mar 2012, 15:35

Hello All

The M 272 is one of the most build naval gun bunkers in the A.W. , in most of the M 272
that I have visit I did not seen these extra enlarged extra rooms for cooling water and a generator .
These are the one's I have seen and visit so far who don't have the extra rooms are =

M.K.B. Heerenduin
M.K.B. Vasouy
M.K.B. Lonques
M.K.B. Brommy
M.K.B. La Couarde
M.K.B. La Coubre

Any idea or picture's of the other one's in Norway , Denmark and France ??

HI Jos,
To the best of my recollection the M 272s in 2/MAA 509 at the Skaw do not have the small rooms to the left and right of the entrance and I have always interpreted the large rooms to be for ammo. But they do have tube outlets on both sides of the entrance.

Thanks Friends

Maybe the M 272 at the "Sudwall" had those enlarged niches , found a drawing
of a M 272 in the book Sudwall from A.C. from M.K.B. Vogelberg with these niches .

Found one photo of the inside of a M 272 at Skagen and another one of a M 272 at Løkken online. Both don't have the niches, so probably none of the eight M 272 in Denmark were built with them.

Yes, I do guided tours on that beach and I got my own personal bunker:
http://www.skagen-tourist.dk/danmark/da ... allerUrl=1

No it is the "artwork" of some painters that went rampant on the bunkers. Actually it says:" LYS SES BEDST I" and on the next bunker:"MØRKE". Translated to the deep philosophical thought:"Light is seen most easily in the dark".

Good evening guys

I can confirm that the eight M272 build in Denmark do not have the extra rooms.

Jos,
The M 272s in the M.S.B. Mauvanne, Toulon, have the small niches.

I can not determine my other found M 272s:
- Gréville, Castel Vendon
http://bunkersite.com/locations/france/ ... castel.php
- Néville sur Mer
http://bunkersite.com/locations/france/ ... e-m272.php
- east bank Dieppe, the ruins.

the dates are very late on the plans with the graeter niches... that must be an alteration i think of the old model

Dear Friends,

M272 built in Batterie Petrolhafen in Le Havre seems to have small nishes according to an allied repport (Ground checking Notes dated february 1945)

Hello Jos,

the drawing in AC's book about the naval batteries along the Südwall is correct. Please find attached a picture of the backside of the most eastern of the four M 272 of MKB Vogelsberg with the exhaust pipes to both sides of the exit.

Regards

Daniel
