Re: Mechanised artillery
Uwe,
Could it be a French gun captured on its railcar and "inspected" by German troops passing in the area in 1940 instead of an ex-French gun in German service?

Re: Mechanised artillery
hello Emmanuel
sure
but every 19,4cm K. 485 (f) is for me just an 19,4cm K. 485 (f)
unless there are french or allied soldiers at this gun
"fremdes gerät" will only distinguished in "beutegerät" (just the weapon) and "truppengerät" (at action in german service)
but always 485 (f)

Re: Mechanised artillery
Thanks, uwe. I understand.
Personally, I use the German "beute" Nummer when I'm sure that it is in German service, thus, as "truppengerät" as I've now learned from you below. Otherwise, I use the original country's designation. But this is just me.

Re: Mechanized artillery
Here is another Hummel, this time in Normandy. The picture has most probably been taken in Rouen in late 1944 as most of the other pictures of this expired ebay auction have been taken in this Norman city liberated on August 30, 1944, and the buildings in the background are similar to the buildings in the picture below.
From the same series, there is this Jagdpanther from schw.Pzjg. Abt. 654. You can see the steeple of the cathedral of Rouen on the right. Note the retracted barrel. The number on the side seems to be “201”.
And here is a picture of the same Jagdpanther in a book

Re: Mechanised artillery
Sturm78,
I believe that it is in Normandy near the British sector . The series in the ebay auction includes pictures of a destroyed Bren Carrier.
