As you can see on kaisersbunker.com website, the WW1 Flak version had no shield. Since the Reichswehr was not allowed to own Flak guns by the Treaty of Versailles, it transformed some of these Flak guns into mobile field artillery and added the shield to protect the crew from ground fire. These guns would share the same ammunition as the horse-drawn 7.7 cm FK16 of the Reichswehr divisions.

A 15 cm s.I.G. 33 (Sf) auf Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf B taken from the back ,
you can see the "normal" s.I.G. with wheels place on the tank .
