Hello Jos & Dirk,

The small Observation bunker like Cosmos has been built not only at the Camping Cosmos and the airfield (b.t.w; HKB Middelkerke and HKB Mariakerke) but I think in each of the early HKB's.
EMD-IV-O7.jpg
The one of Mariakerke (early position HKB 1./823) is different because it has the floor plan of the "bunker 1" but the observation tower of the type Cosmos.

Hello Pierrot

Nice drawing of the combi at Mariakerke , so we can concluded that they are from the same period .

Hello Jos,

I just find that the "Type 1" has been also built inside HKB Westende (Stp Seydlitz). The new leitstand (Type 2) is also visible on the air picture behind the "Type 1".
See also the old postcard where the observation slit of the "Type 1" is just visible in the right end of the postcard.

There was also a Type 1 built in Wn Coesfeld (HQ s.Art.Rgt.781) in Middelkerke. See drawing.

Cheers

Hi Jos,
Cadzand also had a leitstand/peilstand in about the same design.
Do you know who used the big leitstand on the cliffs south of Dieppe (next to the 636)?
It seems to be an early design and it is bigger than the found more north in the PdC.

Hi Simon,

Thank you for this nice drawning. Strangely enough, the Belgian Army forgot this bunker in their post-war inventory. I guess the drawing come from the archives of the Ministery of Public Works (in charge of the demolition works on the coast after the war).
The A.R. 781 was indeed located there in 1941. Later on the same place, came the HKAR 940 that was moves in 1942 to its new headquarter in De Haan (Stp Blücher I). I don't know if the AR 781 has just been renamed into HKAR 940 or if they are 2 different units. Anyway, they had the same function but at different times.
As your drawing proves this bunker was used as Regimental HQ in 1941, the one of Duinbergen was than probably also used as HQ during the same period but for the A.Abt 676 that was located there.

@ Thanks Simon this one was also new for me

@ Jack , the bunker at Cadzand looks like the socalled type 2 but the rooms are different
according to Jacky Laurent the bunker at Dieppe with the three rroms and observation slid
was a command post from the H.K.A.R. 1252
