German air filters?

#1

Post by Jens Andersen » 17 Sep 2012, 09:07

Hello

I have come across some big ventilation filters on a Danish depot.

The grey one to the left is definately German of the type used in the 38 cm gun bunkers in Hanstholm - but how about the one to the right?

The grey one is 120 cm high and Ø 75 cm. The green one would to be of aprox. same size.

Best regards
Jens

Hi Jens

The green one is the Raumfilter R 10 , maybe the grey one's are from a earlyer type .

Hello Jos

Thank you for the quick answer.

It is good to know, so I will have to take care of them instead of letting them go to the scrapper.

best regards
Jens

Jens,

They look like the R39 in the museum bunker and the Leitstand filter room.

Hello Wim

Yes, the filter to left on the photo was clearly of the same type as the ones in our bunkers in Hanstholm.

It was only the right one it was in doubt wether it was a German one from WW II - they could have been of a newer. So, most of the filters we have for HES 1,2 date to the 60's as the ventilators were still in use in the Danish military.

Best regards
Jens

I visited a cold war bunker last weekend and saw a 1:1 German filter made by Piller. So those companies only chanced the numbers on the filter and ventilators and production wend on.

Hi Jens and Jos

Very nice discovery, and good to here they will be saved. :)
Some comparison pictures made a few days ago of similar filters still in their original location!

More of the same type. But I agree with Jens, the right one is different. Possibly postwar. I can remember the type from a Dutch cold war bunker I guess. Have to look up the pictures.

Jos,

We have,

The R10 from Auer (cold war) look identical with the R10 ww2 types. Smaller diameter bottom.
The R5/10 from Dräger have a flat bottom

Looks like the ww2 R10 has a detachable top so it could be refilled.
Thanks,

Wim
