Ringstandlafette

#1

Post by der bunkermann » 07 Dec 2012, 20:51

Hi there,
Can anyone help me with drawings and pictures of a Ringstandlafette? I think it's the most common one.
I have found part of it ( the mount is still there), and want to restore it for our museum 8-)

I'll try to post a picture of it.
Gr, Tim

your friend john sure has an amazing collection :)
we've bought some items of him....
below the best picture i have for now... the mount looks like the one from the bundesarchiv picture.
i can make a better picture of what remains tomorrow.
the ring was made of +/- 30 millimeter steel tube.

Hello Tim

There were two models of this type , one with a full ring and the other with a half ring .

Hi Jos,
It looks like Tim's ring is a tube instead of the one i have which is a L-shape.
Tim, if you want to compair it with my one be my guest!
My one is lacking the woodenpart, but much is still present.
Greetings Jack.

Post of Rucksak, from mg34/mg42 forum

a very nice mount for Tobruk MG42 with armor plate.
Armor plates are recovering but have not yet identified what had been cut in two plates.

Image
Image

MG is clipped on the bipod attachment to a central system by copying the lager 42.
But it is longer by about 1 cm!
As it is impossible to lock and unlock the MG with the hands because of the armor plates, the special lager that locks and unlocks by pushing the MG forward.
I hope I was clear, sorry if this is not the case!

Image

Of the two pins back of the MG is fixed a kind of crutch!
This stand offers a range + or - stop adjustable vertical shooting!

This portion of an arc is mounted on four small wheels!
These rollers rolling on a steel angle of 40mmx40mmx5mm and a diameter 80 cm set at Tobruk.

Image

The rotation is performed by the soldier who grabs the handle vertical.
By pulling or pushing on it, it runs according to his need!
The handle is U-shaped to raise the level in the implementation!

Question,
Has anyone ever seen (or found a picture of) the ringstandlafette lying on a rubber ring? Like a glide bearing.
We have one in our posession wich was found together with a 80 cm rubber ring.
I will make pictures next time i'm in the museum.
