Regelbau 663a and 663b - 10cm KK

#31

Post by wimve » 21 Nov 2013, 13:19

Hello all,

I noticed on the picture of the 30P8 armour plates that the right one is 30cm thick and the left one 20cm thick. Does somebody know why ?
Both sides are concealed in concrete.

Thanks for any help.
Thanks,

Wim

Hello,

I think it's a partition weight issue.

Regelbau 663a and 663b - 30P8

I post this here in the 663 topic since they belong together.

Hello again,

That is good possible but I notice more dimensions which don't seem to fit.

The information I have of the 30P8 armour plate group is not consistent.
What do I have :
frontplate : 20cm
left side plate : 20cm
right side plate : 30 cm
back plate : 20 / 25 / 30 cm
top plate : 42 / 50 / 52 cm

Also I am puzzled by the grooves that should be in the top plate since all sketches show interlocking plates.
I realize these are details not often discussed. But does anyone know these details and maybe why the dimensions vary so much ?

And maybe, mybe does someone has information about the bolts used to put these kind of plates together ?

back plate : 30 cm
top plate : 52 cm

The top plate fits perfectly onto the other plates, they're interconnected by beams with bolts for extra strength.

So what about color ?
Ok, the asbestos internal protection plates are not in place yet but what color would the gun room have ?
10cmKK_30P8_012.jpg
10cm KK with 30P8.
The amount and position of the bolts and connection corners are partly best guestemated.
I also hestitate to make the portholes since I don't have the right dimensions.

To be continued.
Thanks,

Wim

But what about the asbestos panelling ? Natural colour which would be dull grey ? So no extra painting.
Thanks,

Hi,

Was any asbestos sheets fitted? :? There is no sign of any on the inside photos or the holes for attaching it to armour plates.

Good question malcolm.

I doný know. I thought it was a standard issue for coupulas and gun rooms with steel armour.
Also i have no idea how they would be fitted. With bolts into the thick steel armour ? Nor if this still would be visable after 70 years of rust building up.

I also still have no idea how the gun was moved backwards.

Questions, questions.
Thanks,

Wim

Don't think any asbestos layer. It would insulate and prevent the steel from rusting further so it can't be all gone.
