Re: Fortifications of Imperial Germany
I have to share another one, a tripple wellblech from WW1. two wellblech rooms next to each other with a third balanced in the middle ABOVE the othere two... this third room also have an armoured plate with a closing mechanism that looks like one from the Atlantikwall (skoda, 611,...)
Like i said, there are a thousand things i can share from those old WW1 bunkers, which you guys can compare with stuff still used in the Atlantikwall

Hi Bunkerfreak. Is it detached searchlight position of Feste Luitpold?Bunkerfreak wrote:

By the way, the armoured plate, which could be raised is a usual German solution, used at the older forts to cover the QF guns, also for the 77mm guns and searchlights at the modern concrete forts. But it was always installed inside.
The outside plate was at the original Czechoslovak Skoda gun plate and its German successor.

Re: Fortifications of Imperial Germany
Recently I stumbled upon this very interessting site:
--> http://www.festungen.info/

Armoured turret of the batteries of Plappeville. [Source]
It shows belgian and frech fortifications build before the great war as well as modern nuclear shelters.
But the pages focus is on imperial german fortifications in Elsass-Lothringen.Several forts in present condition and their slow decay are depicted in numerous great pictures.Their history is also being described (German laguage only).
Metz area:
- Lots of forts, complete List with links to the specific forts: http://www.festungen.info/content/deuts ... -metz.html
Thionville (Diedenhofen) area: http://www.festungen.info/content/deuts ... index.html
- Feste Koenigsmachern (Groupe fortifié de Koenigsmacker): http://www.festungen.info/content/deuts ... index.html
- Feste Obergentringen (Groupe fortifié de Guentrange): http://www.festungen.info/content/deuts ... index.html
- Feste Illingen (Groupe fortifié d’Illange): http://www.festungen.info/content/deuts ... index.html
Strassburg area:
- Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II. (Fort Mutzig): http://www.festungen.info/content/deuts ... index.html
Great web site, definitely worth a visit!
best regards
Helmut

According to the title, it is a list of 119 retroactivly approved guns (i.e. no complete battery list).Andrzej Ditrich wrote:hmm and were are Pillau, Swinemünde mentioned?
