stp von Rundstedt walk 16.jpg
Thanks too Guido Mahieu (local historian) I got confirmation on the purpose of this Ringstande-like structure. According to a report from the Service Marc (local resistance) from 28 june 44 and a post-war Belgian Military report this was an emplacement for a searchlight which served for the FlaK-battery which was laying inside the Stp. Von Rundstedt (as shown on the maps posted earlier in this topic).

Noticing the diametre (approx. 80cm) can anyone help to point out which would be the most appropriate searchlight to use here and/or perhaps give more information on the concrete structure/socle itself

Thanks ahead!
Jean

Could the chunk of concrete be of a panzermauer, foundation or belgium bunker? It looks very poor armoured for a ST bunker, but it looks 2 meter thick to me?

HI Tim

Hard to tell.... but I do know that the seawall has never been demolisched (the largest part is still present, even today)... if I'm not mistaken we can even see part of the seawall just behind the huge piece of concrete...
If so this piece of concrete would have been part of a construction laying in front of the seawall towards the sea...
Of course it's not shure that this piece belonged to a bunker, could be a foundation indeed... but it shure isn't part of an bunker from any other nationality (Belgium) exept the Germans... as there are no sources on other bunkers then German ones ever standing here

Another original 1945 photocollection i'd like to share with you. Original post-war souvenir photocollection box.
All photo's exept one are taken inside the Stp. von Rundstedt... this one other photo, showing the subterrain galleries, has probably been shot at one of the smaller Stp/Wn inbetween Stp. von Rundstedt and Stp. von Schlieffen; possibly shot at 'Emma' (Stp/Wn von Manstein)

correction: a second photo not taken at the Stp von Rundstedt is the one showing the anti-tankobstacles behind the masonry tankwall, this one was taken in the citycentre on the seasidepromenade (digue).

some photos I own showing some of the nice drawings/fresco's by the Germans inside the kantinebuilding, which was also used and known as the casino and/or Kino(cinema)bunker, and locally called the Victoriabunker. It was called that way because during the days off the liberation in september 44, a big white V was painted on the wooden stagefloor of the bunker. The 'V'-sign at that time meaning 'victory'/'victoire'/'victoria', and which is the true origin of the nowadays V-sign meaning 'peace' instead of 'victory' (there is no 'V' in peace)

(edit: smallest photo is from a local history/heritage site but I don't recall which)

As I thought, the subterrain galleries, lay outside the Stp von Rundstedt in the Stp/Wn Emma/von Manstein (not certain on the name of this Stp/Wn because I have several sources giving different names for this location... and others)

Also my first thought, at least the foundation looks similar.
