I need to go to that fortress and take the pictures for my own (to share in here offcoarse), i don't find any plans for those two 12cm gunbunkers

Thank you Tom for the information about the 7,5 cm fortress gun bunkers. I think it is the only example of using the captured fortress guns and armor during WWI.

The Fort 3 (Borsbeek) casemates are also surprising. I have visited Anterp forts and the "Schans" Schilde with the guns. Do you know how many modern 7,5 turrets and 7,5 cm and 12 cm guns with armoured plates were installed at the old forts of the Antverp fortress?

By the way, if we tak about the Greman WWI designs, we should not forget Sicherungsstellung Nord.

About the amount of turrets on the fortresses, it depends of the fortress.

Some have 4x 75mm turrets, others 6x 75mm turrets, some have 2x 150mm turrets, others only one. Others like "Schoten" have 2x 120mm houwitzer turrets which are pretty rare. But its not only the coupola's that counts, there were also some flanking rooms for close defece of the ditch, but also for flanking the area between the fortresses.

Hi,

yes, of course the Sicherungsstellung Nord. This is maybe the best preserved fortified Stellung of WW 1 and in parts used again at the end of WW 2. I would be happy to find plans from Sicherungsstellung Nord like the ones from Antwerpen !

Hello!

I have a few days of holiday, but I am back:) As I see there was added a lot of interesting posts with very nice pictures!
I am adding two pictures with six-holes prussian steel - concrete - steel copula. This particular one is installed in polish pre II WW bunker located in Belarus section "Baranowicze" sub-section "Brama Horoduszcze" (in english sub-section Horodyszcze Gate).
I will try to find another pictures of prussian bunkers in Belarus, and I add these pictures in future.

Cool copula! what happened there?!

To be honest I don't know. In my opinion, there could be direct hit of copula of heavy ammunition (artillery or mortar) which didn't exploded. It means there was only penetration without explosion. Second possibility is explosion of some quantity of explosives (but not AP charge) directly on the top of copula.

Next example of using prussian copula in other fortifications. The pictures below shows such copula build in tsarist fort number XVI in fortress Modlin (near Warsaw). It has been installed by polish engineers in mid war period.

Our comrade Jean found some very-interesting documents in the archives concerning Fortification Antwerpen:

This area is divided in five huge Abschnitt's: All names can be prooved with german WW1 documents!

Nordabschnitt:
German bunkers from the river Scheldt towards Stabroek, Ertbrand, Brasschaat, Schoten with connection to the "Turnhout Kanalstellung".

Ostabschnitt:
No German bunkers, re-use of old Fortresses (???)

Südabschnitt:
German bunkers from Blaasveld towards Breendonk, Liezele, Bornem and back to the river Scheldt.

Westabschnitt:
German bunkers from the river Scheldt towards Steendorp, Haasdonk, Vrasene with connection to the "Holland Stellung"

Scheldeabschnitt:
Re-use of old belgian batteries and fortresses which lies next to the river scheldt, as Batterie Blauwgaren, Oorderen, Berendrecht, St Marie, St Phillips, Liefkenshoek,...

Some new pictures of a recently opened bunker. Its an "Machinengewehrunterstellraum" (official name according to German WW1 documents), which received the bunkernumber "MG 1". Its one of the three different types of MG-bunkers which can been found in Fortification Antwerpen.

Because its a bunker of the second line, the construction materials are from lower quality, you can see this very good on the usage of wooden planks in the roof instead of Heinrich-plates in frontline bunkers.
