Electrical fence

Post by jopaerya » 31 May 2014, 13:53

Hello All

Inside the perimeter of M.K.B. Lindemann the three gun bunkers received all a electric fence ,
was this only used in M.K.B. Lindemann or also in other heavy naval coast battery's ??

I don't think it was used very often, there was much work to be done to make such fence..
The wooden poles had to be dried (i thought in a oven) , and specially treated to prevent them from conducting electricity.
The attachment of the wire to the pole had to be done very gently, to prevent damage being done to the isolating layer on the pole..
Not something you will find around your local MKB or HKB i guess

I have seen some documents about it, will place it if i find it again!
Gr, Tim.

Intersting Jos, thanks. This system was interesting only against commandos, because in september 1944 all these devices have been blown up by air bombings.

You should notice that it is not actucally a "plan", more a wish list, "beantragt", from the lowest command level.

You often see that when an idea of use of some new type of equipment has been aired, the local commander finds that the new remedy can be used everywhere within his command.

Hi,
During our survey of Fl.H. Grove we have found wire poles made of concrete with insulators clearly intended for an electrical fence.

Good evening guys,

I guess you know the Sammelmappe für B.St.B. (Bau ständiger Befestigungsanlagen) a german collection of technical manuals concerning the building of fortification. In B.St.B., part 4, Hindernisse (obstacles) there is a TM about the electrical fence how it looks like and how to use ist.

Regards

Daniel
