Re: Cherbourg Stp or W.n.
AFAIK, this 88mm gun was part of Flak-Regiment.30 assigned to a battery of four in defense nest Wn.491 at La Guéretterie east of La Glacerie that was attacked on June 24 by the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry supported by a platoon of tanks of the 70th Tank Battalion. The position also included a 37mm Flak gun and two 20mm Flak autocannons, reinforced by a battery of four 105mm field guns of Artillerie-Regiment.1709 that had withdrawn to this area. The site was overwhelmed after a day of fighting, and about 80 prisoners taken. The officers inspecting the gun are (left to right) the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Carlton MacNeely, the Co. K commander, Lt. John Rebarchek, and Capt. George Mabry, battalion S-3 (operations). Rebarchek was recommended for the Medal of Honor for his actions that day, later receiving the Distinguished Service Cross instead.

Re: Cherbourg Stp or W.n.
Here are some information that may help to locate the area.
The gun is a 7,5 cm Flak M17/34(f). In the Cherbourg area in 1944, this type of guns was used in Alarmbatterien of German coastal batteries. So far, I have identified only two MKBs in the area armed with this gun: MKB Brommy (Les Capelains/Caplains - East of Cherbourg) and MKB Landemer (Castel-Vendon - West of Cherbourg).
The landscape reminds me of the coast of the Jobourg peninsula (the "Signal peninsula" for the Germans). So it could be one the Flak guns of MKB Landemer moved to this location to fight against the US forces advancing west of Cherbourg after the fall of the city on June 26, 1944. MKB Landemer was captured on June 30 and the German forces in the Jobourg peninsula surrendered on July 1st.

Re: Cherbourg Stp or W.n.
The bay on the background of the following picture looks similar to the bay on the above picture. The picture is taken from Auderville and shows the small harbor of Goury on the western side of Cap de la Hague. The gun would then be positioned on a slope leading towards HKB 1./1262 at Auderville-La-Roche.

Re: Cherbourg Stp or W.n.
But i do not see the lighthouse on the new photo, on the Internet I could not find anything about a demolition during the second world war.
If the place is right could it be a Alarmbatterie for Batterie Auderville Roche or Auderville Laye?
Greetings Jack

Re: Cherbourg Stp or W.n.
Jack,
I asked myself the same question about the lighthouse. The fact that is not visible on the picture could be due to the low resolution of the ebay copy. Or ... it's the wrong bay.
Alarm Flak batteries were typically installed at MKBs. Auderville-Roche and Laye were HKBs so I don't think the gun would have come from either one. The gun still could have been moved from MKB Landemer.
Other possibility: Flak of a KM's radar station in La Hague peninsula but I've never found any source yet that would mention it.

Nice found Etienne
Then it would be one of the Alarm guns of M.K.B. Hamburg and fits with the other picture's of Hamburg .
