Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
Hi!
The diagonal base was over 150 m! As far as I know, there was no DF with a base over 100 m!
A "Sendezentrale" of the "Reichsflugsicherung" measured close to the size of post. Please also note
the "north arrow"! The post is also "in line to" north-south-east-west....
[Source: Internet] Just an idea...
Best wishes

First i thought it could be an Adcock-Direction-Finder, but after measuring it, it was much too large!Jihem wrote:About 1km North of Quémeur camp, existed a small stoned building (now totally wiped out).
(Please check out the post of Jihem on 15 Jul 2014, 15:34!!! Rolf)

Hi Rolf
Thanks for trying to identify this device. Here is a (blurry) picture (may 1943 ?) of USAAF Tactical Targets serie of Quimper Area (Area 4705W 12) :
In e, the small stoned building (surrounded by a large wall ?) located exactly at Kerlano, commune of Loctudy. (See page 1 /15 jul 2014)
In f, we have Quemeur Camp (still commune of Loctudy). See page 1
nota : tob 01 was not a ringstand, but a “kabelbrunnen”
In d, at Kerouyen (still in Loctudy), we’ve identify an adcock system (4/6 antenna socles are still remaining).
BAMA map of 01/43 (I surround names for later explanations) :

Now we can use the given US descriptions of these targets, from North to South :
e : Kerlano (here writen Kerlane, in Plobannalec : you can see the limit in Géoportail map, it’s in Loctudy) :
f : Quémeur, called Keranguen :
g : Mélaire, instead of Saint-Mélaire or St-Mélaire (Brémoguer nowadays) : mine-field ? No known defences there
d : St Mélaire, instead of Kerouyen nowadays : FuPeil A70 b
This Adcock system was used to locate friend planes, so could it be used for tracking of the planes coming from Pluguffan airport, following the river Odet to Benodet, then Loctudy, towing targets for Penmarch “Schiessplatz” ? Another use ? Jos document (page 1-18 june 2017-showed a link between Penmarc’h and Quémeur, “E-Messübungsstelle Penmarch-Loctudy”
Other Adcock installations are confirmed (Lescors in Penmarc’h, Qu503 Treffiagat). What about Qu 501 Le Guilvinec ?
Many questions are asked, answers are still in store, alas.

Hello Jos
I don't recognize at all these buildings, neither in Penmarc'h, nor in the surroundings : Le Guilvinec, Tréffiagat, Loctudy, Plobannalec, Pont-l'Abbé ...
They look like a school (or barracks ?). Not in the vicinity (even Quimper), I think.
So,Nothig to do with Penmarc'h schiessplatz.

Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
Hi!
Sorry!
The largest longwave-DF of the Luftwaffe was the A-50/A-60-series.
Its "Basis" (diagonal line from antenna to antenna) was 60 m, from
its "center-cable-junction" (Kabelbrunnen) 30 m in each direction.
From the antenna-mast there was a compensating-line in extension of
the line cable-junction to antenna. Its length was 70 m.
Altogether was the line cable-junction to the end of the compensating-
line 100 m.
Today I think the bright lines from the building (Peilerhaus) in
each direction are this kind of lines. Someone digged the cables
out of the ground...
Best wishes

Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
Hi Rolf, Thank you to go on this topic
Yes, I’ve got them
The following pictures are what we’ve found in Kerouyen, an almost destroyed stoned building, with 2 loopholes, and, near an entrance, the base of an antenna :
Then, searching in the vegetation, we ‘ve found a second one, a third one, and a fourth one :
Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
We realised 2 bases were missing (5 and 6) on the ground (it’s a cultivated land), but distance between 2 and 4 (9,60 m) allows to set them at their right place on another drawing :

Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
Hi!
This is from a "normal" A-70-4-mast-Adcock.
The metal on the socle seems to be similar... Best wishes

Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
I think it could be Atlantik 2 (source : Axis)
Re: Camp de Quémeur (Loctudy)
Now, according to the map « Kdo-FHB-8-XII (see nordfriese post #1 :
viewtopic.php?f=70&t=245103&p=2230225#p2230225)
we know it’s not Atlantik 2. Atlantik 2 is yUKW Peiler at Lescors, La Madeleine, Penmarc’h.
viewtopic.php?f=70&t=175074&p=2230150#p2230150
In this Luftwaffe map, Quémeur camp is called “Peildorf Pont L’Abbé”, with 3 substations : Kerlano, Quémeur and Kerouyen, as written above.
