Performance & specifications 155mm K418(f) v 155mm K420(f)

Post by Sheldrake » 09 Dec 2014 15:08

I can see that there has been som e debate about whether the German army coastal artillery in army coastal battalions 1260 and 1265 were equipped with 155mm K418(f) or 155mm K420(f). The specifications for the 155mm K218(f) are readily available. What was the peformance and spedications of the 155mm K420(f) aka the Saint Charmond 155mm GUN

I'm not familiar with HKAR 1265 but I can tell you there are no debate today about the guns of HKAA 1260, based all the US and German archives (incl. pictures) available: definitely no K420(f) in HKAA 1260's sector but K418(f) at Pointe du Hoc (2./1260) and Riva Bella (1./1260) and 12,2 cm K390/1(r) at Vers-sur-mer (3./1260). You'd have to go slightly farther west in the HKAA 1255's sector or farther northwest in the HKAR 1261's sector to find coastal batteries with K420(f).
