Hello
In the upper position it provides a protection against shrapnels to the gun crew and they can be switched to the lower position to use the gun with low barrel elevations.
Bye

Re: Abrollbare Splitterschutzwalze
Thanks Arthur for your reponse
I ll know the function as you describe but i m searching for the german document who says that
Somebody must have read it originally
and as you can see the reality (pictures) doesn t follow the plan
There are no fixatins in the concrete on the picture for keeping them up ....
Dirk

Still interesting to know. The theory is on paper. But how did this work in reality? Were there wires attached to roll it up? It's heavy (410 kilo). How do you roll it up?

Re: Abrollbare Splitterschutzwalze
Well, in case you have to roll those concrete elements down the enemy is very close by. No need to do so while firing against enemy planes. So, if you have to use the Flak as Pak on time, there is no need to roll it up anymore......
