There are many similar blockhauses at Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia, Greece, Bulgaria). They were built during World War II to defend the gridges against the partisans.

Re: Fortifications near bridges
Hi Guys,
I recall my father, who was an officer in the British Army, mentioning some 50 years ago that the Germans sometimes built firing slits into domestic houses near bridges.
Has anyone else heard this?
Cheers,
Sid.
