Type W 24 I and type W 24 II

Was this construction in the middle a way of weight reduction ? or stress relief to the sides ?
The straight "box" construction would take most of the weight to the walls.
Thanks,

Wim

Hi Wim,
I would think it's done to prevent bombs penetrating thee roof?

Dirk, on your picture of formsteine you miss the solidus hollow chimney block, that was used alot as formstein? In the Küver bunker book by Klaas and Jeroen there is a small drawing of it.
At the V2 facillity Eperleques there is a very big one on display.

Gr, Tim
