Weight of Bettungsschiessgerüst C/39?

Post by Jens Andersen » 19 Apr 2017 12:18

Hi,

Does anybody have official German data on the weight of the "Bettungsschiessgerüst C/39" used for 38 and 40,6 cm guns?

I have seen estimates of the weight of a turret with a 38 cm gun ranging between 337 and 650 tonnes.

Best regards
Jens

Hi Epoch,

Thank you very much!
It is certainly still very much of interest.
Where can I find the original? Is it a NARA-file?

Mine was a war-time copy that came from material I bought that was originally
in the archives of Charles Yust (from APG). I do think NARA has one as well (but
not sure its an original).

Uwe, Epoch,

Would you have by any chance some informations about the Bettungschiessgerüst C/43 for 34 cm E K.312 (f) ?

The only reference in my documents that I can find quickly to the 34 cm Mod 12 (E version) just says used E-Bettgs.-Schiessger. (frz) (in the platform used column) and nothing about C.43. (document is up to late 1944)

That is new for me the Bettungsschiessgerüst C/43, I always thought the French 34 cm were placed
in the Bettungsschiessgerüst C/41. But maybe that was only for the 34 cm K.12 (f) guns ??

My mistake, its a typo. C/41, you're right Jos. Thanks Epoch, you targeted the exact location I had in mind, MKB Plouharnel.

The C/41 was never set at Plouharnel and the barrels actually stayed on their original french mount with some german modifications. However some authors seem having found a list exactly as Epoch's one mentionning C/41 at Plouharnel. :?

Hello Arthur

That also would mean a new St bunker for the battery or were there other options ??

Hi Jos,

Given this sketch would say the basis would be the existing S215.
