Dirk,
Jürgen and I, are going to have a look at this building next month... Why ? We will tell you more after we make inquiries about it.. It's a special bunker....

Why is the ceiling raised in that area?

The periscope is installed there. I've seen it in a few 501/504s. Could be that a shorter tube was used (733P3 or 734P3).
Could also be that the ceiling was thicker or the tube placed a bit higher.

There is also one in Sa 114 with this type of piping for the stove .
Just as typical as some 502 stove pipes in the 1 Army coast line.
