Hello Dirk

I think I found a explenation for the typical 5 cm KwK bettung in the sector K.V.A. G ( 15 Army ) .
After the Raid on St Nazaire 28-03-1942 it was not logical to have two Armies on either side of a
major river mouth . In 08-1942 O.B. West orded that the 15 Army was getting control of Walcheren
on the north side and in the south K.V.A. G ( Honfleur till Franceville ) , the former bounderies of
the 15 army was the river Schelde and Seine .

The KwK bettungen were from a "Neue Westwall ausbau" and started to build from 02-1942, so that
could be the reason for the "Normandie" model 5 cm Kwk bettungen in the sector K.V.A. G at that
time still 7 army . So this kind of 5 cm KwK were only build in the sector of the LXXXIV A.K.

Regards Jos

Jos,

To complement your explanation, it is interesting to look at the document dated 5 April 1942 that you posted here:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=189161
you can see that the Germans considered that the defenses of several harbors located on the mouths of rivers included the southern bank (“Südurfer”): Hoek van Holland, Vlissingen, Le Havre and St-Nazaire.

For Le Havre, the southern bank to protect the harbor starts at Honfleur indeed.

Thanks Emmanuel

I recieved from Alain Chazette a document that the sector K.V.A. G was transferred to the 15. Army in 5-1942 .

While searching two other quistions came to my mind , was the bounderie during the Raid on St Nazaire the Loire
river and K.V.A. A is normal the first to start with ( see Holland and Walcheren ) but what about K.V.A. A ( Bretagne )
Maybe earlier the bounderie between the two Army 's was at this point ??
