Info on H.K.B. 16./180 Filsö / Dyreby (Denmark)

Post by Askov » 13 Jul 2019 21:28

I am starting some research on this unit, especially the emplacements 600 meters northeast of the gun positions.

So far the battery´s 4 X K390 (r) mounts have either been removed or, as i think, covered with dirt.

I am the owner of the farm which was used as officers quarters and mess.

I have not been able to find pictures of the actual sites.

Tomorrow i will speak with the former owner (aged 86) about his experience and knowledge.

Hello Askov. Have you visited this danish site?
www.atlantvoldenidanmark.dk. You will have to register to post, but omce that is done I’m sure some one there will know more about the positions etc. Very knowledgeable people when it comes to anything related to bunkers etc. in Denmark.

Hello

In the list from Baufortschrittsmeldung 25-2-1945 there is not registered any use of concrete in that position.

From "Vaaben i Klitterne" the guns is fieldartillery.

I have no pictures either, sorry.

Regards
Kurt

This site https://bunkermuseumhanstholm.dk/viden- ... port-1946/ also says “let forberedte feltstillinger”.

Thank you Waleed and Kurt

Two oldtimers state that:

-There where gun mounts in concrete (but the guns where on wheels)

-The little forest south of the gun position had three fake cannons pointing west (made of big logs)

-The company commander was from south Germany, a farmer named Hermann. His quarters was in my farm, and his initialt are carved in the bricks (H.W 1944) among others.

-The area 600 meters north west of the guns, had four bunkers (two concrete and two made of logs) but no regelbau types i guess.

-there where hungarian privates, living in a barrakke and earth dug "caves" -pictures from 1947 confirm this.

Hi,

I know of no drawings or measurements from the Dyreby battery, but we have a quite nice one from Vrøgum, which was armed with the same gun type and established at the same time. It may give a hint to how the Dyreby battery was arranged.

After the weekend I can send a scan in higher resolution.

best regards
Jens

Hi Jens

Thank you - This is very interesting.

I have spoken to the older residents, and they remember searchlights around Dyreby too.

Respectfully

Hi Rasmus,

That sounds right.

According to the "Kriegsgliederung" og 1.12.1944 and 20.2.1945 the battery had two 150 cm and one 60 cm search lights.

The big search lights would normally be placed a few hundred metres to the sides of the batteries in order not to attract fire on the battery itself.

Best regards
Jens

Jens,

Is it possible to see which other weapons/equipment were in that position? Panzerschreck´s, MG´s, rangefinders and such?

Respectfully

Rasmus

The Kriegsgliederung Jens mentioned also lists two 7.62 cm guns, two 5 cm KwKs, some russian medium mortars, three lMG 42, two sMG 42 and three Panzerschreck.

Available here, by the way.
