3,7 cm Pak.K.

#1

The 3,7 cm Pak.K. (L/65) was used with the 29P8 Panzerkasematte.

Here an anecdote from the Oder-Warthe-Bogen (Pz.W. 866?):

Basically, the Waffenamt telling the local unit, that production of ammunition for their newly installed fortress weapon has been discontinued.

Is it actually true, that the regular 3,7 cm Pak ammunition was incompatible with the 3,7 cm Pak.K.?

Very interesting. "PzW-4 Schwerin" is probably the whole complex, which bunker with 29P8 was renamed to "PzW 866" later. Schwerin is a German name for the Skwierzyna village. According to photos, there was the 3,7 Pak.L. installed at the end of war. The gun which ammunution production has been cancelled five years before.

I can only find the abbreviated name in German documents, but yes, the K stands for Kasematte.

Regarding the ammunition situation, it's of course possible, that there were sufficient amounts left in stock.
The linked document is unclear about that.

At least from 8 pieces of produced 29P8 Pak-Kasematte(s) only two were originally installed.
1 x Heeresgruppenkommando 1 (Osten) = OWB - PzW 866
1 x Heeresgruppenkommando 2 (Westen) = Westwall - Merzig

The lack of ammo is a question of breech chamber shapes in standard "field" 3,7 cm Pak L/45 (Rheinmetall) and "fortress" 3,7 cm Pak L/65 (Krupp). Just because technical design or L/65 needs bigger chamber for more propellant in bigger cartridge to get higher velocity of shell which was in both guns the some.
