German equipment for transmitting speech by Light

The British 16 Fire Control Unit Royal Artillery (coastal) war diary entry for 25 June 1944 says " A piece of German equipment found that appears to be apparatus for transmitting speech by light waves" The unit was based in Ouistreham

Any ideas what this might refer to?

Sounds like a Lichtsprechgerät.
