German shelters in Pskov region, Russia - a Regelbau type?

#1

Dear colleagues, here are some pictures of German shelters of Panther-Stellung in the south of Pskov region (in many Russian sources this part of defensive line is called "Reyer line", as it was called in original Soviet documents of 1944 after capture of that position, but the spelling of "Reyer" could be wrong):

It looks you four this. First time I see pictures, thanks for sharing. Do you have close up of the defence plate ? Looks a low-cost version of 48p8.

Third one (56.62562, 28.81692) and fourth one (56.62558, 28.81651). Those two were flooded so I couldn't get in.

A couple of more pictures of the fifth one:
DSCF7356-1.JPG
DSCF7357.JPG
DSCF7358.JPG
DSCF7360.JPG
DSCF7368.JPG
All 5 shelters are clearly of the same type with only minor details different (anti-spall coating of the ceiling could be made of wood or metal, various niches and mountings are different etc.). All of them were not completed with construction. I wonder was that any exact Regelbau type or just frontline improvisation?

Hi Eax-E, and thanks for such a quick reply. I did not expect for reply to come so fast, so I was posting without seeing your comment.)))

Yes, it looks you are right - the shelter on your drawing shows exactly those bunkers.

Concerning your question - here are all defence plate pictures I made there:

DSCF7292.JPG
DSCF7298.JPG
DSCF7365.JPG
DSCF7368.JPG
The plates are a bit different as well.

I'm quite sure there are more shelters of this type in that region, I saw only those local enthusiasts told me about.

Here is an archive of all related pictures in original size: https://yadi.sk/d/BKj6_0TCrpaKDg

And here you may see original Soviet photos of 1944 of those objects after capture: https://lost-fortresses.livejournal.com/531892.html

Hello,

In this same file from BAMA there was another drawing (one page earlier) - maybe it's worth to look if it's existing in reality in Reiher Stellung?

No, this is different design as this bunker has a Kampfstand - a battle casemate with embrasure for machine-gun. The objects I pictured were just shelters without embrasures. Also general layout is a bit different - the shelters have the entrance on the right side while this Kleinstunterstand has the entrance on the left side etc.

You are welcome! Actually I have quite a number of pictures of German fortification objects in Russia, which probably are little known for people from other countries. I just have to find a proper way of posting them.

Just place them here and try to order them a bit by province or town, make your own topic on your finds.
I can assure you we will enjoy it, I will while i am still at home not working because of a burnout and Covid.
For me these are just like gems, we know the Germans built a lot of fortifications but mostly fieldorder (wood/stone) but when there was a standstill in the battles more regular concrete fortification were built too.
That is just the idea of this forum, to connect and help each other.
JK

Nice pictures in the link, not that I can read or understand the Russian language and writing, but the pictures of the fortifications are clear.

OK, let's continue with pictures from Pskov region to which I sent a link. First of all, digits like 56.62558, 28.81651 are co-ordinates of objects for your better understanding of location, mapping etc.

Naturally I made comments to the files in Russian so as the tags are also in Russian for better search in my archive, which now has 100.000+ pictures.))) If you need exact explanation of those mystical symbols in Cyrillic - just let me know.

Pictures 7252 - 7255 and 7256 - 7269 show quite rare objects - the remnants of pillboxes with tank turrets. Here are just a couple of them as an example:

56.629, 28.8264

DSCF7252 Немецкая ТОТ, 56.629, 28.8264.JPG

56.63113, 28.8266

DSCF7256 Немецкая ТОТ, 56.63113, 28.8266.JPG

Now they look just as pits overgrown with young trees with some lumps of concrete, but they are quite unique. Again, you may see how they look in 1944 at https://lost-fortresses.livejournal.com/531892.html.

Pictures 7309 - 7321 show what is believed to be a basement of observation post. A hexagonal bunker with obviously just one chamber inside, now covered with earth on at least two thirds of its original height:

56.33381, 28.87522

DSCF7309 Немецкий НП, 56.33381, 28.87522.JPG

The roof collapsed, so it's not possible to get inside:

DSCF7315.JPG

Now the roof is covered with metal sheet for safety of local kids. You may see 4 square holes in the roof, which originally were used for wooden (?) supports of the observation tower:

DSCF7316.JPG

To be continued...

There is a square pit made of concrete near the bunker:

DSCF7316-1.JPG
DSCF7317.JPG
DSCF7318.JPG

Probably some equipment like communication switchboards was installed there as you may see several cables (or pipes?..) outcome in the wall:

DSCF7321 Выход кабелей из колодца.JPG

Now idea how this might originally look.

Your comments will be highly appreciated. Too many photos, too few photos, to place photo archives not to Yandex Disk, but elsewhere etc.
