South of the Oderstellung

#1

Post by JKernwerk » 28 Nov 2020, 22:08

From the North the Ostbefestigungen began with the Pommernstellung, the Oder, Warthe Bogen and then the Oderstellung.
But was there a defense line South of the Oderstellung?
The shortest point from Wroclaw to the Czech border is about 70Km.
Am I missing something?

Which moment? 1939 or 1944?
Untill 1939 in south-east you have an Oberschlesien Stellung, directly to south you have very small positions: in Otmuchow - 3 bunkers looking like predecessors of B1 series, and also 3pcs of C bunkers on former German -Czechoslovakian border, near villages Poreba and Spalona.

There is the Neisseanschlussstellung at Ottmachau, where two MG bunkers and a groupshelter were build to protect a large weir at the Glatzer Neisse.

Herring, I do not mind what time the fortifications were built.
I assume that if they built more bunkers in the same line as the Pommernstellung, OWB and Oderstellung that they were built at the same time.\\
So If I understand you guys no real line of bunkers was built but just some stutzpunkt like groups of bunkers.
Thanks very much for your input.

Neisse-Stellung .The bunkers were built in 1933 at the latest. Old-style doors and armor plates which are missing from the panzeratlas were used

Point is, that in 44 Oderstellung was a back line, front line was D1, going more or less from Oppeln - abot 50 km north Breslau - to Glogau. D1 was a field fortifications, with kochbunkers and fallkorpersperre.
I've red somewhere, that Neisseanschlussstellung was a planned position, that was to extend Oderstellung. Only these 3 bunkers in Otmuchow were erected (or at least found so far), so hard to say if it was to be a stutzpunktartige ausbau, or rather not finished line.
