I'm closely involved with the investigations. The plan is to go inside and see what remains! The 'discovered' bunker is a R502 situated on the east side of the casino. An identical 502 should be on the west side. The roof of the bunkers were partially demolished with explosives after the war, but they should be intact inside. We knew the bunkers were there so no real surprise. Newspapers and media...

Yes indeed, the presence of the 2 x 502 of Stp Roon were known and confirmed by documents. Both bunkers were reserved by the ministry of Defence after the war and could not been destroyed. In the 50’s, permission was given to cut 1.5m of the roof so that the bunkers could be hidden under the ground without sticking out.
I am part of the investigation team. More information will follow tomorrow.
If my bunker numbers logic is right, they should be numbered Ost-W 10 - 215 and 216.

You're correct !
They will be demolished, JM Dedecker told the media that there are still some 75 502's at the Belgian coast...

He's the mayor of Middelkerke. He meant that approx. 75 [R502s] were built along the Belgian coast, not that all 75 are preserved!

Good evening

Again another example of the ignorance of our politicians. More than 500 St (Ständig) bunkers were completed in July 1944 only in KVA3 (Wenduine to La Panne). Only on the territory of the town of Middelkerke (Middelkerke-Raversijde-Westende-Lombardsijde-Leffinge, I count in my inventory already more than 75 St bunkers built in September 1944.
These 2 will be destroyed for sure, the town of Middelkerke shows only little interest about the bunkers on its grounds, many of them (WW1 and WW2) have been already destroyed these last years.
