Katyusha models in use July 1944

Hi

I am trying to ascertain what the maximum range was in kilometres of the most popular model of Katyusha rocket employed by the Soviets in July 1944 as part of the summer offensive of 1 Ukrainian front.

On line sources only seem to give details of individual model types which seem to have had a range of between 4.5-11 km depending on type.

Some models must have been more prevalent than others in terms of use by the summer of 1944 and as I do not know exactly which models were deployed in the action I am studying a good estimate would likely be the most popular model at that time.

any help greatly appreciated

best wishes

Mike Melnyk.

The most common Katyusha rockets in this time were M-13 (max. range around 8000 m) and M-31 (max. range 4000-4325 m). As far as I remember, M-31 launchers (i.e. Rama M-30, Rama M-31 and probably some BM-31-12 trucks introduced in June 1944) were more numerous than M-13 launchers (BM-13-16 trucks) then, although the latter are more popular in the pictures and films.
