Bunker ID coxyde region (AOK15 KVA A3)
Hello,
Thanks to Jean Luc Pauwels, I just received an entire photocollection of private photos by a soldier who was stationed at Stp Panther in Coxyde from 1943 - 1944. The collection exist mainly out of photos taken during the free time of the soldier spend on the beaches and also contain many touristphotos taken at De Panne, Ostend, Bruges, Dixmude, etc...
Next to some very unclear photos showing the Stp Panther itself, there are also 2 photo's taken at the beach in which some bunkers can be clearly seen. As the soldier was stationed in Coxyde it seems likely that these photos were taken at the beach of Coxyde or perhaps Ostdunkerque. But as this soldier visited many places it is also possible that these photos were taken at another beach.
Can anyone help to match these photos with a German stronghold along the Belgian coast, most likely taken in KVA A3 (sector Ostend - De Panne), possibly Coxyde.
This first one shows only one bunker... Which type could it be and to which stronghold did it belong?
This second photo shows 2 bunkers for observation/firecontrol laying next to each other. The bunker on the left is a quite common model for the region and was found (amongst others) at Zeebruges, Middelkerke, Nieuwpoort, etc...
The second bunker to the right seems to be an early commandbunker for HKB also from a regionally used model as found along the Bellgian coast and Northern France. Both types of bunkers we discussed earlier in viewtopic.php?f=70&t=191059&hilit=commandbunker
Where could this be?

Hello Jean
Thanks for sharing these photo from Jean Luc , I think the first one is the 631 in Stp. Rommel .
This bunker was partly destroyed just after the war by British troops .
Regards Jos

Thanks Jos, hopefully someone can confirm this and can help out with the second photo

Notice the flattend roof and the triangular tower in my second photo with the two observationbunkers.
Although I doubted at first, but they are the same as seen in the photo by Cnock in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=70&t=242379
So on this location in Coxyde there was a second observation/Leitstand bunker

Hello Jean
No, only one observation bunker. What you think beeing anorher Obs is in fact just the shadow of the roof from one house. Just zoom on it and you will understand what I mean.
There was however a second identical observation bunker in Koksijde more to the East, closer thus of Stp Rommel but this one was blowed off by English Engineer in January 1945. The house with flat-cut roof visible on the background, confirmed the identification of this Beobachtung as the first one ( in front of Hôtel du Kursal, just before Stp Scharnhorst.

thx Pierrot,
you have a very keen eye to have noticed this. But indeed when zooming in it seems to be a shadow created by the overhanging roof... but it had me fooled thinking it was a bunker.

the soldier with the violin in the first photo on bunkersite.com could very well be one of the soldiers of the small group of friends in the album which I've posted. They have the same receiding hairline and posture.
