In the area of Brest some bunkers had their walls strenghtened (after the bunkers were finished) with about 1m to 1,5m of extra concrete.
When was this done and are there more cases where this was done?
At least the S414 (Battr. Graf Spee) and some bunkers of the Landfront of Festung Brest had this feature.

Hello Jack
The four extra concrete walls in Portzic ( Brest ) around the bunkers I have never seen .
There was for example in Cherbourg ( Gare Maritime ) a 634 with on one side a extra protection .
Regards Jos

Re: strenghtening walls of bunkers
Well, reinforcement with additional 1 m of concrete during the construction of a bunker was done several times. It is well known for example from the Atlantikwall along the dutch coastline. The BRV has documented this fact very well. But after the bunker has been allready erected???? This is new for me.
But another question regarding Baupunkt 92. Why was this R 634 dugged out. Will it be destroyed, saved or reused within another construction?
After reading this topic I had a look at geoportail.fr and I was surprised to see a bunker uncovered that looks from the air like a R 626 without its steelplate above the gun room. According to Emmanuel Boulards article "Les Defences du Goulet de Brest: les points d'appui du Portzic et de la pointe des Espagnols" a R 626 was build there. Is this bunker still uncovered today and is it accessible? Has someone been there recently?

Hello Eax-E, thank you for this reply. If I got you right, the situation is not the same today (uncovered in a garden)?
