24 cm m16 in German use

#1

Post by Truelove » 21 Jan 2023, 02:24

In the book "Skoda Heavy Guns" it says;
3 batteries, each with
Artillery platoon- 5 motorcycles, 2 passenger cars, 10 trucks (4.5 ton), then 2 guns with 4 half tracks each and 1 gun with 4 electric BE train.

My question is, are the motor vehicles divided up between the 3 gun sections, or does each gun get 10 trucks etc?
Thanks
John

It seems the applicable KStN is Nr. 491 Battr. schw. 24 cm Kan. (t.) (2 Gesch.) (mot Z). The version of 1.11.1941 is available in NARA T283 R123, Frames 4731060 - 4731063. This document may be downloaded from http://wwiidigitalarchives.org/t283.

The Geschützstaffel (part of the Gefechtsbatterie) consists of two guns and contains the following vehicles:
- 2 leichte gl. Personenkraftwagen (Kfz. 1)
- 1 Truppenluftschutzkraftwagen (Kfz. 4)
- 1 mittlerer gl. Personenkraftwagen mit Gerätkasten (Kfz. 15)
- 11 schwere gl. Lastkraftwagen, offen, für Mannschaftstransport, Bettungsbaugerät und Zubehör
- 2 schwere Zugkraftwagen 18 t (Sd. Kfz. 9) (zum Vorrat)
- 8 benzinelektrische Zugwagen

Kind regards,
