Color pictures of German 203mm naval shells?

#1

For the S473/S483 project, I've reached the point of making shell loads for the feldbahn small railway used to transport shells from the main magazine to the S473/S483's own smaller magazine. But I can't find any color pictures of a 203mm naval shell, probably since they're so preserved batteries of that caliber, or indications of what color where. I'm assuming based on battleship shells that they're either blue or yellow, depending on whether they're HE or AP, but that's about all I've found. Based on the NavWeaps drawings and battleship shell pictures I went with yellow with a black tip and a white band in roughly the spot of the light colored band in the drawings. I'm also unsure of what color to make the driving bands, and I'm not all that happy with them currently. Also unsure of whether the base fuze cavity (which I'm pretty sure is what it is) is painted the same yellow as the rest of the shell body or if it's some other color.
Thanks.

Shell as it is right now:

Here's a original colour drawing of the shell you are working on, which is a HE shell with basefuze.
I think the inside of the basefuze cavity (Bodenlochbüchse Nr. 22) is painted with protective asphalt lacquer but i'm not 100% sure, i'll see if i can find out more.

Best regards,

Zünder.

Thanks! :D I wonder if pink is correct for the driving bands, or if that's a result of the fading as it aged coupled with the scanning process.

Here's a picture of an original Bodenlochbüchse with and without the C/38 fuze.
The threads are bare metal, greased.
The outside and lower part of the inside are covered with asphalt lacquer.

Best regards,
