Hello

Does anyone know more about this abbreviation "Flachf.-battr" and what this battery was for. Below an example of 18 AOK dated 01/04/1940

Reference RH_19_II_93_0007 of BamArch

Hello Dirk,
"Flachf.- Battr" means flat trajectory fire battery, and it could be used as a long-range artillery unit.
That's a tought.

Regards.

Yes, that's it.
Note, that the guns of these three batteries, 15 cm K 18 and Th K (E), had max. elevation of 45 degrees, so they could not fire in upper elevation angles, as opposed to e.g. howitzers or mortars. So the document just states, there were three flat fire batteries. :)

Correct according to 1943 US manual:
“Flachfeuer - flat trajecton' fire”
