When did the flak 38 receive its armored sheild? Was it in time for the '40 French Campaign or did it come after?

thanks

Technically - never. As a 10.5 CM AA Cannon, it was designed for home or static defense use vs front defense, hense an armored shield was deemed unnecessary. A few rouge pieces might have existed with one however. The first Flak 38's were delivered in 1940. There were 1,850 still registerd in service February, 1945.

An 88 flak cannon with the armored shield did exist however, and was designated 8.8 CM Flak 41. Development finished 1941. First field use in 1943. Due to service closer to the front, only 289 were remaining registered in use February, 1945.
