Hello.
Its no problem taking measure, ill do it in a day or two, just tell what you need measured, ill take some photos if you need.
Have been at Herdla once, not familiar with all the positions around the area.
There are different ones, both german and norwegian(pre.1940), i add one photo i took at Herdla.

We have got a deal with the navy out there! They will show us two of their still active ex-German batteries! Loads of German artillery, bunkers, tankturrets+++
What I want you to measure, is the distance between the bolts.
like this drawing, and if you can, the dimention of the bolts.

Is it correct that those "splitterschutz boxen" in the background were camouflaged as barns and painted red?? I think the same kind were built at Værnes outside Trondheim aswell. I have only seen one of these before, but totally rebuilt as a warehouse!
In 3 other airports I have visited, they looked like this:

Hello.
Here are something.
Two of those mountings are similar as seen on the "picture" i adding, third quite different, the odd third one follow later.
The distance is measured from the center of the bolt. The mounting had 8 bolts, the third one had only 7..., none missing.
The bolt itself is from center and out aprox 2,1cm.Didnt have a proper tool for exact measure.
In addition, the cooling jar is 267 cm long,36,5cm wide, this is the same for all 3 positions, the rooms for storing ammunition is also the same, 91cm depth , 107cm wide, and 110cm high. The doors to those have been 16cm thick.

Hello again
If you draw a direct line from:
Bolt 1-2=45cm from center to center
Bolt 2-3=45cm from center to center
Bolt 4-5=23,5cm from center to center
Bolt 5-6=45cm from center to center
Bolt 6-7=23,5cm from center to center
Bolt 7-1=45cm from center to center
across bolt 2-5 its 87,5cm from center to center.
It follow somehow the other drawing but as I mention its only 7 bolts.
Some difficulty measure it properly as the weather turned out very nasty.
The bolts at this one was aprox 1,4-1,5cm from center and out.
Im sure you are going to have some fun at Herdla, to have a guided tour must be something.About those shelters at Herdla, i have seens some photos of them looking as buildings, there are some smaller ones on the opposite direction of my photo, mostly stones and rubbish by now.

Thanks! Great work!
As soon as I get reply from the museum, I think we will know what once stood on "Sokkel1"
The other one sounds really strange! I have never seen a unsymmetric circle like you describe! Was this also in a exactly similar pos. or did it look different?
You know each battery had a "Befehlsstelle" where a randefinder was placed. These emplacements are often very easy to mix with the actual gunpositions....

position
hello again.
If the odd one is a place for a rangefinder i cant see why they put in a cooling jar and made room for storing ammunition.Il add a picture of that.
We better wait until the museum comes up with something.
You mention a virtual tour, could you put something out ?
Light/heavy flak ? Rangefinderposition ? or something at the coast ? Jæren ?

If there was a cooling jar, I think this excludes the RF
I have a location I think you will like! I will start on it later this evening!

I am leaving town on Sunday...If they doesn`t reply within Saturday, you will have to wait until next week!We better wait until the museum comes up with something

Here is a few shots from a heavy Flak battery just south of Stadt.
The main armnament was 4*10,5cm Flak, and they also had 2*4cm Flak for "close defence"
The 4cm`s were placed on a small island in front of the main guns, so this was not acessible for us......

@Weiss Wurst,
are you still interessted in pictures and insights of the production-shelter"Valentin" in Bremen? Then follow this german link:
http://www.relikte.com/. At the starting page go to the menu "Übersicht" and at the opening page look for #82 and there are links to history and pictures of "Valentin"
To all: this is a site I would recommend, if someone is intersted in military and civilian architecture of this kind in northern Germany. Of course there is more to recommend...
Regards
Here some impressions from there:

The flak at Stadt was MFB 2/702 Ervik (4x10,5cm SKC /32)
The gun at Kvarven is probably a 15cm Sk/L45.....
The commandpost is difficult to identify from the outside, but it looks typical German style! I will have to take a closer look at Kvarven some day...... Do you know if the torpedobattery is sealed off??
