Hello again.
No 2cm in this position, 3X4cm Bofors 28, this from Marineflakabteilung 801/6.
I see you have Fjørtofts book, nice picture of a 4 cmBofors in it.
Havnt been at Olsvik(been there but not at the site) maybe a trip this week could be useful.

Would be interesting to see the MPL "laffette" of this gun!
Anyone?......

Olsvik is in really good shape, and I recommend it if you live in the area.
The best Flak battery in the Bergen area is definately at MKB Fjell though!
They even have 2 10,5cm Skc/32!

While we were speaking of construction, maybe this is of interest:

In a few batteries and strongpoints, the pioneer units added their unit number. Maybe they were proud of their work or wanted to help me....?

Anyway, look at these:

1. Built by OT in 1943 (No doubt!)
2. Built by 4th company, Festung bau pionieer batallion 40
3. Built by 3rd company, LW pionieer batallion 15 (XI armee korps?)

Hello Again.
I havnt been at Fjell either, have been at some sites but thats years ago.
I understand that the area is closed ? or could i go looking when i want ?
Im going to take some photos of the Løvås batterie, not much left but still.
You mention MPL lafette ?

Fjell is still used by the military. The site is closing this summer, so the whole area will probably be handed over to the museum located up there.

So far they have only had open once a year or after agreements with the museum. I guess they will let more people in when the radar is gone.....

MPL = Marine pivot laffette
The special navy laffette used instead of carriage with wheels!

Very nice pictures, i have seen your pictures posted on this forum, very good pictures all the way.
About the MPL you mention.I might be wrong but i think most of the Bofors used in Norway was captured equipment from the british or norwegian forces.
I have seen some pictures of the mounting/MPL of the Bofors, but i dont think its something kriegsmarine made in that.
At the mentioned site the bolts for the eventually MPL are of different size, cant see that there was something standarized mounting in use.
I add a picture, you can see the difference in the previous one.

I hate to say it, but it really looks like emplacements for 20mm.......
Are you really sure that there were ONLY 40mm`s here?

I was also unable to find anything on 801/6.

May I ask where you got your information

I know a guy involved in restoring a few of these guns.... I will ask him about the MPL for this gun! And maybe get some measures of the attachment bolts!

I was also planning a new "viritual walk" but I`ll let you decide which!

1. A well defended beach.

2. Antitankwall with some integrated bunkers/turrets.

3. a Walk trough a strongpoint.

The info comes from a "lagemeldung"

, they had as i mention 3 4Cm Bofors, its also typed in that they had 5000 shells at the site.
The unit does belong to 801/6-4 Zug.
The zugs in the 801/6 used 2cm and up to 4cm.

This really lloks loke a cooling jar for the barrels of a 20mm.....

They are found in allmost every light flak emplacement!
Your photo doesn`t show the whole of it, but by looking at the photos, I would say that this IS a light flak emplacement......

hello again.
i add another picture, it show the missing bit.Im not that good taking pictures.
When im talking of Bofors gun at the site im just refering to the list, the same unit is listed with several other Bofors guns near by.
If thats wrong its nice to have it corrected, after all we want it right doesnt we ?

It is really difficult to say.....
It looks smaller than anything I have seen before, but I can`t think of any other purpose.....

In all heavy flak batteries there were allways a few 20mm`s for low-flying aircrafts.... I don`t know if the medium batteries had this, but I wouldn`t be supprised if they had......

Do you know any good locations at Herdla? Your name could indicate that you do

I will recieve photos and measurements of the "bolt circle" for a 4cm Flak28 in a few days! Is it possible for you to do some measures in those emplacements?
I need the diametre and distance between them!
