I would like to get some information on the Führehauptquartier in the Ukraine known as Wehrwolf Lair. It was located at Vinnytsya.

The complex was build in 1942. consisted of three underground bunkers and about 20 above ground buildings. It was linked to Berlin with direct phone cable. It had included a swimming pool, a movie theater, a casino and a number of buildings for the staff. Guarding the complex were Gestapo troops armed with tanks, anti aircraft weapons and aircraft stationed at a nearby airstrip.
The site was destroyed by retreating nazi troops in 1944 and after that by Russian troops
Hitler had his headquarter at the Wehrwolf Liar from 16 july 1942 until September 27. Also again in 1943.

There has been a lot of talks on what to do with the whole site. Right now the region administration is placing a tender, who can create a best usage of the site. The ideas range from Nazi outfitted casino to germany sponcored restoration of the complex. I think the russian side is seen the most favorible - they want to turn the whole think into a memorial.

If i´m not wrong the correct german word for werewolfs lair is "Wolfsschanze" (word used by Hitler himself), maybe you´ll find some more information.

I'm sure the Werwolf FHQ at Vinnystsia (not to be confused with the Führerhauptquartier Wolfsschanze at Rastenberg) was full of radon gas. But so what? He did not die of lung cancer, the danger of inhaling alpha emitters like radon gas, which ordinarily don't pentrate the skin or even a piece of paper. Smoking cigarettes, which Hitler didn't do, is much more harmful to your health than radon. Hitler did complain of headaches from the pitch used to waterproof the wooden huts with, which emitted a noxious odor.

I think I would take the claim of executing all the builders, a la Ivan the Terrible, with a grain of salt as well.

Are there any books written regardning the "Wolfsschanze"? Also are there any pictures to find on the internet of the site, both now and "then"?

Would have liked to see those guardtowers made up to look like trees!

Information about FHQ Eichenhain "Wehrwolf" is comprehensively supplied in Zeigert & Seidler: Die Fuehrerhauptquartiere, Herbig Munich, 2001.

"Wehrwolf" lay north of Winniza on the Shitomir road and was built by Oberbauleitung Ukraine Einsatz XII of the Todt Organisation.

Preparatory work between November 1941 amd September 1942 used 8000 German OT workers and 1000 Russians.
The second stage between January and July 1943 employed 1250 German OT workers, Russians were not used for security reasons.
Security was provided by the Fuehrer-Begleit-Batallion, a Wehrmacht force detached from IR "Grossdeutschland", and RSD. There were no "Gestapo troops" as suggested elsewhere.

"Wehrwolf" is a play on words: "Werwolf", and "Wehr" meaning "armed forces. "Wolfsschanze" was at Rastenburg.

Other field HQs for Army, SS and Luftwaffe were at Shitomir.

I have an English translation but it is very long and also includes the SS and Luftwaffe installations at Shitomir. Could do it in note form next few days.
