Hei du:)
Im not sure but i think i saw something like it on a old coastal fort.
And i think(not sure) that it's a base for a searchlight. Were is this place?
All i can think of is a place for search lights.

How about a base for a Wurzburg radar unit, looks similar in size, though not shape to others I have seen.

Emplacement

Post by admfisher » 29 Jun 2002 21:31

Well if he is from Norway and the images are from there we can draw these conclusions,
A: Gun Emplacement
or
B: Radar

The inside of the foundation there looks like a mount for a pedastal mounted gun. Probably AA, but the foundation is of a good size so this may mean that it is a field emplacement for a gun.
If it was radar the foundation probably would of been more spread out and not as fortified looking.

This is defianlty not a position for a tank turret as there is no room to mount the base of the turret.
If the emplacement is on the coast a 4 to 6 inch gun could of been fitted there.
The foundation looks simalar to the foundations for single naval gun turrets.

Thats a guess from here.

The photo is taken in Poland, very far from the coast. I have never seen anything like it over several yars of bunker "hunting"

Here is a Wurzburg foundation
