I've follow your exhange of pictures of guns ranging from large to enormous. Thought is might be time for probably on of the smallest howitzers used during WW 2, a belgian 76 mm infantry gun used for airfield defence in Denmark. FM Rommel is inspecting the gun at Flieger Horst Grove on 9 DEC 1943 sometime between 0915 and 1235. 8) No the officer leaning over the gun is not Rommel he is pictured on pic 2.

interesting....
as per regulations, gun layer (K1) has removed the steel helmet to sight the gun....

the white band on the gun's commander arm and the cap may indicate a training exercise (also the casual standing)

In the second picture, you can see the ejected shell case is put in the carriage, just under the breech.

other than that, nice color, the uniforms are so tidy they almost look like reenactors LOL!! :D (Ja..Ja, I know it is real, just commmenting...)

The same gun Canon de 76 FRC aka 7.6 cm I.G. 260 (b) also Luftwaffe on a airfield ,
maybe Denmark ?? Please see the two photo's of SES on top of this page .
