Re: Dora Railway gun question
This is the cover of the barrel we, can see how big and heavy it is, needs two men and a crane to bottle that up.

Re: Dora Railway gun question
Now to tell you how was such a big gun moved, I think in large distance transportation, was used a steam locomotive Br-52 or Br-50 or in pair, I don't know, If you have pictures with such a configuration please submit.
But moving the beast locally the famous D311 Locomotives (also known as V188) were special build for this task. Each gun had 2 pair locomotives D311 and for Gustav's operation, the D311 locomotives the Kartuschwagen and Temperierwagen were painted in camouflage and one pair D311 locomotive was named in paint "Walli" by the Germans.

Re: Dora Railway gun question
Now pictures with D311 this locomotives were so rare that only 8 were ever build. (From what I know)
Re: Dora Railway gun question
D311 Notice in the four picture the big Gustav gun barrel.
Re: Dora Railway gun question
D311, I wish someone would do this locomotive in 1/72 scale so I could mount it with Dora and Gustav.
Re: Dora Railway gun question
