This bunker is found just outside a WM depot area near Århus. Have anyone seen anything like it. Any sugestions as to the purpose/function?

Usually strange objects like this turns up in former areas with barracks, camps and such. I have seen several similar constructions in Norway, but usually we write them off as "Barrack foundations"

I would say that a wooden structure obviously once stood on top of this.
Maybe a food depot? With a ladder going up to the kitchen??

Hi Erik.
No a bad theory at all. But I have the aerial photo of the area and there is no barrack at that position. As a matter of fact this construction is about 200 m outside the perimeter of the depot.

Is it just the 2,5 x 2,5 meters we see, or is there "more inside" :)

Interesting detail:

The walls facing the open field has thicker walls than those facing the hillside. This makes me think that it was used for a military purpose, and not food :)

Why it was placed away from the camp is a key factor.
I was just thinking on some kind of shelter for guards, maybe with a fireplace, but the hole in the roof is maybe too big for that......

Are you sure it was actually outside the perimeter? It could have been used to store ammo. Maybe part of a depot?

Hi.
Thank you for the reaction. Yes it is outside, what mystify me is the square hole in the roof. You have a hard time getting in and out in full battle grab, and you have to be damm tall to stick your head out :-)

Hi SES,

I have seen a similar structure i Norway.

Don't know what it's for, though. This one had no visible/accessable entrance.

Kind regards,

Snorre

Hi SES,

It is in an area close to a larger bunker-complex in a hill-side. A FlammII/RS232-bunker is some 50m away.
Erik E knows more about the bunker-complex (of course  )

Site: Maberg, Lista, SW Norway

Kind regards,

Snorre

Holy xxxx!!!!!
Where have you been Snorre! I was just about to report you as "missing in action" :)

The one you think about here Snorre has struck me to. However this has no door, only the opening on top.... We have registered this as a water tank. I also believe there were some remains of a level switch inside, along with a valve in the bottom of it........

Hi E,

No need to panic  Just my son and some extra work taking up 100% of my spare time.

Interesting theory about the water tank. However, it is painted white on the inside (or is that post-WWII paint?) and it is also near the top of a small hill. However, it doesn't seem to have a door, so I have no better suggesting myself.

Kind regards,

Snorre
