Big AA guns

And the follow up pages from SES his image
Re: Big AA guns
Thank you very much for your help, SES and Erwin.
However, I have some doubts:
First, I do not understand the second of my images posted on 27 Nov, in which appears the gun barrel down to ground level. It does not match with the barrel assembly process showing in your images..
Second, Sd.Ah.205 ??? I thought that this trailer was used for 10.5cm Flak 39 barrels. See http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... ilers.html
Third, I thought the Rohrwagen 40 trailer was developed for the initial mobile version of 12.8cm Flak 40, with a cruciform mount. However, the latest images show that it was also used for the static version.

Re: Big AA guns
I think it's a result of some accident - probably the braces broke, Rohrwagen went loose and the barrel slid back, landing on the ground.First, I do not understand the second of my images posted on 27 Nov, in which appears the gun barrel down to ground level. Maybe it was just an universal trailer for heavy flak guns?Second, Sd.Ah.205 ??? I thought that this trailer was used for 10.5cm Flak 39 barrels.
It was used with any version transported with the Sd.Ah 203. and the barrel removed - i.e. early static and fixed.Third, I thought the Rohrwagen 40 trailer was developed for the initial mobile version of 12.8cm Flak 40, with a cruciform mount. Probably most of the time just with a crane.SES wrote:Hi,
Interesting shots. Could the 8,8 cm Flak on a Sockel Lafette be taken apart and assembled in the same manner?

That photo looks like a in the field barrel change. This is quite a routine job for the gun fitters.

Re: Big AA guns
Hi all,
A photoserie from Ebay: 12.8cm Flak 40 being assembled in field.
The second photo again create me questions about the assembly process of the gun.
According to the drawings posted by ErwinZ and SES, the trailer was attached to the cradle of the gun and then the barrel was pushed into position.
However, in this new photo seems that the trailer is located quite far from the gun mount while the tube is being pushed into position. I think the tube will probably end up on the ground !!
Any idea??
On the other hand, Does anyone have any photos of the 12.8cm Flak 40 mount on his transport trailer?

Seems they are still in stage 1; still aligning the mount. Once the barrel fits, the whole carriage can move forward.Sturm78 wrote:However, in this new photo seems that the trailer is located quite far from the gun mount while the tube is being pushed into position. Re: Big AA guns
Hi all,
A very rare image of a 12.8cm Flak 40 gun on his Sd.Ah.220 trailer. There are very few wartime images of this trailer

Re: Big AA guns
Has anyone seen photos of the Flakzwilling 40s at Bremerhaven? I have one of them (was at Aberdeen for years) and we're about to cosmetically restore it for display in the Air Defense Artillery park here at Fort Sill. I'd like to get it in as accurate a paint scheme as I can instead of just painting it overall Schwarzgrau.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Re: Big AA guns
I found this photo at the norwegian National Archives (ref RAFA-3309-47-1-143b). I don't know if it's a Flak 40 position (Fl307) under construction? Location is unknown.
