A regelbau question as I would like to know more on the subject. Is there a collection (numbered/named types) of ammunition storage bunkers? I’m asking because I know of two locations in Denmark that have “storage” bunkers of same type built (presumably) for the Kriegsmarine.

And of course I better say sorry for “stealing” the thread with this question but I will provide further info, pictures, drawings etc. if the question is elevant here.

Hello

Will that be "ammunition storage bunkers" in ammunition depo´s or in coastal batteries?

“Munitionslager”. I would say inland but not too far from water and both in wooded areas - Vestereng and Fylleledet Skov. Just wondering if there was some sort of standard “bunker” design for these.

A Tobruk with PzKpfw II tower in Sulejow / Poland.

Bunker is located on a private site. However, homeowners let visitors look at the bunker - if you can polish and ask.

Hello Waleed
“Munitionslager”. I would say inland but not too far from water and both in wooded areas - Vestereng and Fylleledet Skov. Just wondering if there was some sort of standard “bunker” design for these.
These types of bunkers were build at four positions in Denmark (Aarhus/Vestereng, Frederikshavn/Fylleledet, Aalborg and Esbjerg.
There is a short description on page 101 in "German Bunkers in Denmark" by Jens Andersen & Rudi Rolf.
Regelbaunumbers (if they did exist) are not known. I would very much like to know when these bunkers were built.

Hello Lars and thanks!
When you say “wamt to know when they were built”, I would say 1944 and to May 45 when it comes to Aarhus.
Have a look at this site (if it still works). You should find it interesting if not already known info.

Eric, this is quite an undertaking. What is the intention, i.e. do you want just 1 picture per type? Or do you want a picture of the same type, but from different locations? I ask, because last year an R600 was excavated in my garden in Normandy. I left it uncovered so that it can be visited.

Anyway, I'll attach them. One is taken during an open day (500 visitors) last summer. I can send also pictures inside the R600 if you want, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Regards,

Leon.

If you have trouble understanding this, go to www.deepl.com and have it translated for you.

Hahaha, what a joke. Indeed, it was Archéobunker Dieppe who did the excavation of this bunker. This is the story. We bought the house in 2007 and we knew it was on historical ground. In the back of the garden is a 1-room bunker/shelter and there was a bulge in the grass. My sister, who lives in the area, told me about Association Archéo Bunker Dieppe. I contacted them and invited them to visit our garden. During the visit I told them I had the ambition to dig a bit in the bulge to find out what it was. Immediately I was told that it would be a criminal offense if I did, because you need a permit for an archeological dig. They offered to do the paper work and would actually do the dig. And so it happened.

The people of Archéobunker knew what they were digging for, I did not. I was stunned when this R600 saw daylight again. We had the option to bury it again or leave it open. As I strongly believe in making/keeping history available to whoever is interested, we decided to leave it open to visitors. As you can see, one of the pictures shows the queu during an open day, when about 500 visitors came to see the R600.

It goes without saying that I became a member of the Association Archéobunker Dieppe.

I forgot to mention the National Institute for Military History in the Netherlands. You will find various "typenheften" in their (on-line) archives. You can find them here: https://www.archieven.nl/nl/zoeken?miva ... &milang=nl
It is all in Dutch, use www.deepl.com for good translations.

Hi Leon,
Good to see the Dutchies are also preserving fortifications in a foreign country!
And it's nice to have a 600 in the garden.
Some people are living the dream!
;-)
Greetings and maybe we meet in the future.
Jack.

The real joke is that I didn't know it was in the garden. I invited the local bunker association and when I indicated I wanted to do some digging, they quickly told that, without a formal permit, it would be a criminal offense. However, they said they could arrange for a permit and carry out the dig....for free. It wouldn't cost me a penny. I agreed, had some discussions with my wife and agreed to keep it open. Regularly I open it for visitors. I want to keep it alive, because we must never forget about the atrocities by the nazis.

Where are you from, Jack?

Leon.
